Healing Powers of Stones
Ancient Healing Traditions Explained

The use of gemstones for healing has its roots in such diverse cultures and systems as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Native American healing traditions and Ayurveda, the holistic approach to health that has been practiced in India for over 5000 years. Today gemstone use is reflected in the more recent practice of Crystal Healing. The subtle powers of gemstones, such as their ability to promote physical healing or their power to help balance human emotions still elude modern science.

Spring 2010 Fashion
Bangles and Beads, Bring it On!

Spring 2010 fashion will not be complete unless accessories, especially jewelry are included. Designers and stylists say "Bangles and Beads, Bring it On!" This spring, the ready-made jewelry collections span all sorts of tastes and price points from streetwise to precious, ribbons to rubies and from $50 to five figures.

At Beadworks you can make many of this season's jewelry must-haves for a fraction of the cost. Start by checking your jewelry box to see what you already own. Set aside pieces you can add to, or shop for complimentary pieces to accent. Statement pieces remain popular and most stylists recommend "pick a place" (neck, ear or wrist) and go all out!

This season's colors are bright, clear and dazzling. Precious and semi-precious gemstones and Swarovski crystal remain the focus. Not sure what to consider? Stop by Beadworks and let us help you "make the jewelry you want to wear"!

The Elegance of Gold
18K Gold Beads and Findings

Gold represents "Purity of Spirit" and is considered to be a "Master Healer". When gold is used with gemstones, the healing powers of those stones are amplified. Gold has been used for healing as well as for personal adornment for centuries.

We carry a wonderful selection of 18K gold beads, findings and clasps. Please ask to see our assortment next time you visit!

WARNING! Silver Purity
Sterling Silver vs Imitations

When you think of "silver", chances are you mean "Sterling Silver", which by definition has a silver content of 92.5%. Unfortunately, the high cost of silver has led some producers to dilute the content of the silver they use to make beads and findings. The substantial decrease in the value of the dollar has made this situation worse.

Bali style beads and findings are notorious targets for this practice, but chain, brushed components, daisy spacers and other common basics are vulnerable too. Why does "Sterling" matter?
