A Quartz by any Other Name...
is Still a Quartz

Quartz is a very common crystalline mineral that can be found all over the world in endless varieties. Naturally occurring quartz can be crystal clear, translucent or opaque and can be found in every imaginable color of the rainbow. The major distinction between types of quartz is that of its structure: microcrystalline (visible only under high magnification) and macro crystalline (crystals visible to the unaided eye). Chalcedony is the generic term for microcrystalline quartz and includes such varieties as: Agate, Aventurine, Carnelian, Jasper and Onyx. The macro-crystalline quartzes that we most commonly see made into beads include; Amethyst, Ametrine, Citrine, Crystal Quartz, Rose Quartz and Smokey Quartz. Read More…

  *NEW Wire Manipulation Tools
Have you always wanted to make your own clasps, ear wires or headpins? To do this effectively you need some additional basic tools. We have just added these three new tools to our selection: a bench block, a ball pien jeweler's hammer and a wooden mallet. These tools are essentials for anyone interested in manipulating wire into fun shapes or unique findings. The ball pien hammer is essential for hardening, flattening or smoothing wire, the bench block provides the proper surface to hammer wire smoothly and the wooden mallet is great for hammering when you do not want to mar or dent your wire. Add a Wig-Jig and you are all set to start making your own findings!
